The unique expression of reality in a perceived individual, having passed from what is perceived as this life, gone beyond our sensing or knowing except in memory. This is the spark, the ember, the light of the ephemeral, quintessential, that all life springs from… and to which it returns when its allotted energies and capacity to continue are exhausted.
Our memories are imperfect, chaotic, and irrelevant, ultimately. Our knowing is desparingly superficial, our symphonies of self mourn the impossibility of knowledge amidst the seeming paradox of high probabilities which, from our view, often appear or we prefer to treat as indistinguishable.
The pristine perfection that is “what is” cannot fit into this clumsy lettering; I find I envy the musicians as well as the manual artists their canvases, clays, and colors. Words are clumsy when the need is greatest.
This life, stripped of all the human trappings of culture and society, is a delicate flutter of visceral delight that holds the connotation and context of a belonging so complete, so replete, so full that the cup of neither heart nor mind can contain it. Lacrimosa’s salt belies the sweetness of a certainty that no theology can offer, and all science continues to evidence.
Vivaldi’s “Four Seasons”. Barber’s “Adagio”. And yes, Mozart’s “Lacrimosa”. And more.
A starry night. A pale, blue dot. A ‘once upon a time’ when there was a me, and a you, and a he, she, them, we, us, and all.
That from emptiness, form, and in form, still, emptiness.
It’s all just so amazing.
